meeting minutes 8/18/16

Meeting called to order at 7:13 by Dan Pressburg President

Flag salute led by Dan Pressburg

Invocation led by Carl

Ryan presented information about the Dine-out 90805

Dan provided updates on projects

Wetlands will be breaking ground

August 27th peace pole will be planted

Library will be opening on 9/10 virtual tour will be posted on our website soon

Project for $4-5,000 revenue for Deforest park

Police report presented by Officer Frank Pena

7/19- today incidents: 4 vehicle thefts all recovered

theft from a vehicle (license plates)

purse stolen

robbery and assault

provided flyers about curfew and safety tips

provided flyer about who to call for various issues

Andrean from Parks and Rec provided an update

26 kids this week

next week is the last week

have 2 teen volunteers for fall program

dog show has 17 commitments

Christian Cambridge presented updates from the city council

creative corridor and mural tour successful 60-70 people came locations provided (flyer)

2 developments were purchased this month

Atlantic and Artesia (Frontier development) bank and coffee shop

South and Atlantic LAB Holdings purchased area

projected completion 2018

Budget meeting 8/29 6-7:30 at Houghton park flyer provided

End of summer celebration 8/30 5:30 at Long Beach arena

bike lanes installed on Artesia between Atlantic and Orange

Leah presented information about the budget and provided flyers

$36 million dollars coming from measure A

restoration of police south division

restoring fire engine 8

adding a police recruit academy and 2 fire academies

infrastructure map available on the city website

19.6 million for streets

public facilities

economic development focus

2 beach streets events in 2017

Jeanetta Standefor from The Edge publication

will highlight local businesses

sponsors events in Long Beach
