6:49PM Welcome DPNA Neighborhood Association (DPNA) Executive Board Meeting – Meeting called to order by President Dan Pressburg
6:50PM Old Business
Dine-Out 90805 – Elizabeth spoke with owner, Carla from Cheko El Rey Del Sarandeado (343 E. Market) who was open to a Dine-Out on a Monday so long as she knew in advance the date in order to be staffed for it; Elizabeth to follow-u with her and propose Monday 2/25 from 6:30PM-8:00PM
Additional Dine-Outs this year will be Jovino’s (April) and Super Mex (October) – will need to approach them in advance to ensure they are willing
Joni provided update that she did a Facebook fundraiser for DPNA and raised $420
7:02 PM New Business
- Congresswoman Nanette Diaz Barragan will be in the community – This Sunday, January 27th from 2:00PM-3:30PM at 167 E. South Street Long Beach, CA 90805
- Need to announce winner of Christmas Light Contest and provide trophy, certificates, and prize (to be ordered – follow-up Darlene and Keith)
- Need update from 4thDistrict Supervisor Rep Herlinda Chico (Janice Hahn) – add contact information to website (follow-up Ryan)
- Need to add https://www.lahsa.org/portal/apps/la-hop/ to DPNA website as a link for reporting homelessness in LA county (follow-up Ryan)
- Consider ordering new DPNA board shirt (one polo, one t-shirt)
- Uptown Common Ground breaking ground in March
- Need to explore studio trip fundraisers (Darlene to follow-up) with partnership from Campfire
- DPNA Calendar 2019 thus far:
February – Meet the Press
March – Elliott from Aquarium at the Pacific and Intellectual Virtues Academy – both contacted DPNA for requests
April – A Night with Mayor Garcia
May – TBD
June – jazz Fest
July – Chili Cook-Off Fire vs. Police (Guns vs. Hoses Challenge)
- Discussion regarding Jordan High School outreach
- Will be having a community site night in March (Saturday AM and Monday PM) to help engage parents
- Picnic over the summer
- Engage video students to do filming at Chili Cook-Off and Teen Summit
- Consider having a booth a Jazz Fest wo increase publicity; list accomplishments for the year; flier with various programs
- DPNA to partner with Jordan and due event with refreshments, raffle, and prizes
