DPNA Board Meeting Minutes – May 30, 2018

7:08PM Welcome DPNA Neighborhood Association (DPNA) Executive Board Meeting – Meeting called by President Dan Pressburg

 

Dine Out 90805 Update: Sal’s Gumbo Shack – Some of the food was good but service was slow. The outdoor patio is nice. Likely not do another Dine Out there until service is markedly improved.

 

7:15PM Old Business

Jazz Fest –

  • Only do cash and Square sales via credit card for event to keep it simple
  • Corazon has completed paperwork
  • Darlene has tarp and water station
  • Keith and Joni have a screen for a 10X10 pop-up
  • Need coolers for food, beverages, and ice – need at least 5 coolers (2 for meat, 1 for drinks, 1 for popsicles, and 1 for ice)
  • Add onions and jalapenos
  • Only have a card from Vons; need cards from Food 4 Less and Walmart – Darlene to ask Rex to contact them to get support
  • Idea is to do 80 hot links, 50 hot dogs, 50 bratwurst, and 15 veggie dogs
  • Regular chips only – box of 50
  • Joni will ask her friend, Veronica to make order here and pick-up signs; have Veronica do a sign for popsicles instead of candy; ask to do a sign of No bills larger than $20
  • If we do Snickers candy bars, need to have dry ice and increase price; might be best to table them as not as profitable
  • Can consider doing popsicles and selling them for a $1.00
  • 16 oz. cups only
  • Propane – need 2 tanks
  • Need yellow gas tape – Ryan will bring.
  • Condiments – have ketchup, mustard, BBQ, and mayo. Need packets of relish. If people did not purchase from us and want BBQ charge 2 packets for $1.00.
  • Need lots of foil
  • Need metal trays and warming trays. Need full and half sizes.
  • Need stenos.
  • Need thongs.
  • Separate food for DPNA Executive Board – extra pack of hot dogs and an extra pack of Bratwurst
  • Keith to provide large green tub
  • We have trays; don’t need to buy
  • We have some wax paper but not sure of the amount
  • Portable charges for cell phones and 2 Squares; Ryan will order another Square reader
  • Dan will supply cash box
  • Consider getting a counterfeit pen
  • Need gloves (only have 1 box)
  • Need approximately 240 buns
  • Keith and Joni have 13 gel chafing fuel burners

 

Dine Out Discussion – none this month

 

4th of July Party? – Invite Mayor?

 

8:29PM New Business

Grant Info from Council Office – can be enough to make some improvements at Deforest such as club house and cameras; don’t want to impede on Camp Fire group; grant is due in October 2018

Chili Cook-Off is August 25, 2018; have a $1,000 grant from Port of Long Beach for Chili Cook-Off; do poetry slam for event – Dan to contact Mike Gibson about being a judge at the event; will speak with Nanette Barragan to be a judge again; also will be on Arts Grant circuit next month

Veterans Day Parade – had a booth with putting green last year

Need Quarterly Update from 4th District Supervisor Rep Erlinda Chico (Janice Hahn) – they are short-staffed as someone in office recently had surgery; need to make sure they attend quarterly meetings
